Within the framework of the 13th Session of the World Urban Forum 13 (WUF13) held in Baku, the Special Communication and Information Security State Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan is represented with a dedicated stand.
Forum participants are introduced at the stand to presentations and interactive simulations reflecting the important role of cybersecurity in ensuring urban resilience in smart and digitalized cities. The demonstrated solutions highlight the strategic importance of information systems security against the backdrop of the integration of digital technologies into all areas of urban life.
The simulations presented at the stand visually demonstrate the possible impact of potential cyber threats targeting transport, communications, energy and other critical services. The presentations show that cyber incidents that may occur within the digital urban ecosystem are not merely technical issues, but also factors capable of affecting the uninterrupted operation of urban services, public security, economic activity and citizens’ trust in digital services.
Major General Allahveran Ismayılov, Deputy Head of SCISSS, who visited the stand, was provided with detailed information regarding the scenarios and interactive simulations demonstrated there. It was stated that the presented solutions were developed on the basis of the Service’s professional experience in the protection of state information resources and critical information infrastructure, as well as the knowledge and approaches gained through the monitoring and analysis of cyber threats. It was also noted that the simulations not only visualize potential risks and their possible consequences in digitalized cities, but also demonstrate the importance of preventive cybersecurity measures and ensuring cyber resilience.
Additionally, Major General Allahveran Ismayılov was provided with detailed information at the WUF13 Network Infrastructure Control Center regarding the services ensured by SCISSS, the uninterrupted monitoring of the network infrastructure, cybersecurity oversight and the measures implemented to ensure the sustainable operation of digital services.
SCISSS once again emphasizes on the WUF13 platform that cybersecurity is one of the key prerequisites for resilience in modern and digitalizing cities. The secure and uninterrupted operation of smart cities directly depends on the reliable protection of digital infrastructure.
