SCISSS participated in the Forum organized by the Media Development Agency

Within the framework of the III Forum titled “Public Processes in the Media Sphere,” organized by the Media Development Agency, a panel session entitled “Digital Development: Media, Artificial Intelligence and Innovation” was held.

Murad Balayev, Head of the Computer Emergency Response Team of the Special Communication and Information Security State Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan, who participated in the session as a speaker, emphasized that artificial intelligence and “deepfake” technologies are changing the nature of cyberattacks, particularly from the media perspective, the potential of disinformation campaigns to manipulate public opinion has sharply increased, while in countering these threats it is vital for media institutions to adopt fact-checking tools and enhance media literacy in society.

During the panel session, the impact of digital development on the media sector, the new opportunities created by artificial intelligence technologies in the production and dissemination of information, the increasing risks of disinformation and the issues related to the preservation of ethical principles were widely discussed. It was stated that it is highly important for media representatives to use innovative tools properly, ethically and effectively and to benefit efficiently from the capabilities of these technologies in their professional activities.

It was also emphasized during the session that, in a period marked by the rapid development of artificial intelligence, the timely adaptation of media institutions to technological innovations and ensuring information reliability are of particular importance.

It should be noted that, at the end of the panel discussion, the participants’ questions were answered and the Forum concluded its activity.
